Vassar College Women’s Chorus

The Vassar Women’s Chorus is an auditioned ensemble that was formed in the fall of 1997. The group has revived a tradition from Vassar’s past in the context of Vassar’s present co-educational mission. Repertoire has included a cappella and accompanied works from the Renaissance to the 20th century. The Women’s Chorus recently performed opera choruses with the Vassar College Orchestra and recorded a live CD of their final concert. The Women’s Chorus presents concerts on and off-campus and recently toured Puerto Rico and Turkey. This year they will embark on a tour during Spring break, 2008. This ensemble is open to all Vassar women by audition. All current members who are rising sophomores must make an appointment with the director before being re-admitted. Rehearsals are held on Mondays, Wednesday and Thursdays. Monday’s rehearsal will consist of a one hour sectional scheduled by each section between 5:00-7:00 p.m.
